Train with Coach Made Suardana — Bali's most experienced BJJ instructor — in the heart of Canggu. Serious technique, open community, drop-ins always welcome.
"Bali brings people together from every corner of the world. The mat is where that becomes something real. I've rolled with white belts on their first day and world champions passing through on holiday. Both are welcome here."
Made Suardana discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu through a traveling practitioner who came through Canggu in 2009 and never fully left. What started as informal mat sessions on a surf club floor became Canggu BJJ — the island's most established grappling community.
Trained under multiple international instructors who have passed through Bali over the years, Made earned his brown belt through consistent competition and study. He has competed across Southeast Asia including Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta.
His classes blend technical fundamentals with the kind of open, welcoming energy that Canggu is known for. Beginners and purple belts train side by side here.
Fundamentals through advanced technique. Structured drilling followed by live rolling. All belts welcome.
Submission wrestling and no-gi grappling. Great for MMA fighters and surfers who don't want to fuss with a gi.
